GoTime Performer Spotlight: Risk One

Today we kick off a new series highlighting some of the best performers in Seattle.  This is not only your chance to get an in depth look at who’s hot in Seatown, but to get the inside dish on things like their favorite local spots, their most embarrassing moment, and much more!  DJ Risk One was oh-so-kind to be our guinea pig and you definitely won’t be disappointed:

GT: Where is your favorite breakfast (hangover) spot in Seattle?

5 Spot in Queen Anne, hands down!!  Best hashbrowns on the planet. Catch me there damn near every Sunday.

GT: What is your favorite music genre?

Oh boy, I don’t think I could narrow it down to just one… I’ve always been into quality hip-hop, but I love spinning House and Electro in the club, and Funk/Soul just to make me feel good.
GT: Where is your favorite area to go out in Seattle?
Well if I was on the other side of the party fence, i’d prob be up on Capitol Hill.   Lots of good/unique spots up there, and i like the diversity and randoms.
GT: What’s your favorite restaurant type?
I’m a sucker for bar food.. sliders, nachos, and strawberry lemonade all day.
GT: What’s your most embarrassing moment thus far while performing?
Probably my first DJ competiton ever, after 6mo. of DJing.  I advanced past the first round which I didn’t expect, so I hadn’t really practiced a 2nd round set.  I got up and did my thing, but halfway thru I realized I forgot one of the records I needed.  So I stopped with 30secs left and just started dancing… Ashlee Simpson style. I didn’t advance.. d’oh!

GT: Where are you currently spinning?
Weekly: Last Supper Club (Seattle):
Bi-weekly:  PURE Las VegasBlush at The Wynn (Vegas), M Resort Pool (Vegas), Chapel (Seattle)
Monthly: The Agency (Portland), Rock Bottom (Bellevue)
Upcoming cities: San Diego, Louisville, Providence
GT: Who inspired you then and still inspires you now? Why?
Seattle’s own DV One was my mentor, and a big inspiration. I was also a fan of DJ Revolution and Rob Swift.  Nowadays i’m all bout what Diplo and Klever are doing.  Both of them are monsters in the game right now.
GT: You stub your toe, HARD – what do you say?
AHHHH FU*KIN SH*T!!!!!!  Who put that there!???
GT: Plug your next big gig…
Stingaree in San Diego on June 12th along with DJ Mad. Will be a good one for sure!

Locally be sure to check out Risk weekly at Lust, and Bi-weekly at Get. Set. GO. I think it’s safe to say that if he’s spinning, it’s gonna be a fun night,  as long as he remembered all of his records…
