GoTime Event of the Week: Hempfest
By now you’ve at least heard of Hempfest, but more than likely if you haven’t experienced it firsthand, an image of stoners rambling about their rights is what you’re envisioning. However, what started in 1991 with 500 stoners gathered in Volunteer Park, “has grown into one of the most sophisticated cannabis policy reform events in the world.” – hempfest.org
Here’s why everyone should attend Hempfest even if they don’t believe in the legalization of marijuana:
- This event is massive. It’s amazing to watch thousands upon thousands (last year more than 300,000 folks attended) of people gather peacefully in support of any cause.

- It’s the perfect opportunity to people watch

- An amazing line-up of live music

- If you’re gonna have an opinion against legalization you should probably get educated on why so many people so passionately disagree with you.

- There’s a chance you’ll get to watch as two worlds collide.

- Oh and there will be plenty of this:
that is, if that’s what you’re into…
The best way to see exactly what’s in store is to watch this video from 2001. Woody Harrelson made an appearance to a packed crowd of Seattle supporters proclaiming them “The most energized pot smokers I’ve ever run across”:
You know you want to… just stop by, most of Seattle will be doing the same.
